Who this trip is for

Come alone. You won't stay that way.

Most people book this trip soulo. Whether you're coming on your own, with a partner, or dragging your best friend along, it's built the same way — enough structure that you never have to plan a thing, enough space that it still feels like your trip.

Soulo travelers

Soulo travel is coming on your own without being on your own. You get the ease and safety of a group without a rigid tour-bus schedule. Roommate matching is available if you'd rather not pay the single-room rate.

First-timers in Asia

Transport, guides, hotels, and activities are handled end to end. You book a flight and show up — everything on the ground is already arranged.

People who want to actually do things

Volcano hikes and rafting sit next to spa afternoons and free days. You can go hard or opt out, and both are completely normal here.

Asya Brown, host of The Bali Reset

Meet your host

Asya Brown

I'm a former Google tech girl turned full-time travel creator, relocation advisor, and Bali-based expat.

After leaving my corporate career and moving abroad, Bali became one of the places that helped me reconnect with myself, my purpose, and a more beautiful way of living.

I created this trip for travelers who want more than a vacation. It blends adventure, culture, wellness, luxury, and connection — from sunrise hikes and purification ceremonies to ATV rides, rafting, ocean days, helicopter views, Balinese cooking, spa moments, and unforgettable dinners.

Whether you're coming solo, with your partner, or with friends, this trip is designed to help you explore Bali, meet new people, try something new, and experience the island in a way that feels intentional and unforgettable.

Let’s get on a call — before you book, after you book, or both.

This is a real amount of money and, for a lot of people, a first trip to Asia. You shouldn’t have to decide on it from a webpage.

Thinking about it? Book a call before you pay anything. Ask me whether the pace suits you, how the rooming works if you’re coming solo, what the food is like with your dietary needs, how the money works day to day, what the volcano morning actually involves, or whether this is the right trip for you at all. If the answer is no, I’ll tell you — I’d rather you skip this one than spend $3,299 on the wrong trip.

Already booked? We’ll do another one to get you ready. Visa and arrival steps in the right order, what to pack, what to sort first and what can wait, and anything that’s been on your mind since you paid the deposit.

No script, no pressure, and no question too basic — I’ve heard them all and I live here. Send me a note and we’ll find a time that works across the time difference.

Email me to set up a call +1 (510) 566-6516

Day by day

The nine days.

Tap any day to open it. Two full free days are built in on purpose — Bali is worth wandering without a plan.

Your transfer is waiting at Denpasar airport the moment you land and takes you straight to Aksari Resort & Spa in Ubud. After a long flight the rest of the day is free — we'll meet properly by the pool in the afternoon, then head out together for the welcome dinner that evening.

Adventures start after breakfast with a yoga class to introduce you to the aura and spirit of Bali. From there we go deeper into Balinese culture with a purification session at Taman Griya Beji waterfall — hidden falls and caves, and time to relax and clear your head. The day closes with a jewelry-making workshop where you'll design and keep a piece of 100% silver.

Are you up for sunrise at the top of an active volcano? We start around 2:00 AM, and after a two-hour hike we reach the summit of Mount Batur to watch the sun come up over the clouds between two sacred volcanoes — one of the best sunrise spots in the world. Afterward there's time to rest at the natural hot springs, and a 5-star massage that afternoon.

Today we say goodbye to Ubud. After breakfast we pack up, check out, and transfer to Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach — but not before one more adventure. Rafting and ATV through the jungle, maybe the two best activities Bali has to offer.

Now that we're on the coast, we're not skipping the best of Bali's sea activities. After breakfast we head out for a jet ski ride on the calm water at Nusa Dua, then a private helicopter ride over the Uluwatu skyline — just meters above the waves and the coastline.

Day 6 is completely free — for chilling, or for optional activities like a surf lesson or beach club hopping. I'll help you set anything up.

Optional extras, paid separately

Ready to learn what Bali actually tastes like? We start early with a visit to a local market to learn the ingredients behind Balinese cuisine and see how people here shop day to day. Then it's on to the restaurant for a three-hour cooking class, learning the recipes and techniques they use across the island.

Another free day to spend exactly as you wish. In the evening we have our farewell dinner, with a few surprises — a proper recap of the trip and all the memories we've made over the past week.

It's time to say goodbye to the island of the gods. Depending on your return flight, you'll have a private transfer to the airport. Staying on longer? Tell me when you book and I'll help you plan the rest.

Where you'll sleep

Three nights in the jungle, five on the beach.

Both hotels are 5-star, and both are included — with breakfast every morning. You move once, halfway through, and we handle the luggage.

Pricing

Two ways to pay.

$3,299 USD per person either way — the payment plan costs you nothing extra, it just spreads it out. A $499 deposit books your spot the moment you decide, and your monthly payments run from that day.

Pay in full

$3,299USD

One payment, done. Your spot is confirmed the moment it clears, and you don't think about it again.

Pay in full

Payment plan

$499to book

Then a monthly amount you choose. No interest, no fees — the same $3,299, spread out on your own clock. Every option below adds up to exactly $3,299.

Pick your rhythm above. Your $499 deposit is charged today and your spot is yours; your monthly payments then start one month later, are charged to the same card automatically, and stop the moment you are paid off — nothing to remember and nothing to chase. Because the balance has to clear by 5 July 2027, sixty days before we fly, the longer plans close first: book by 5 December 2026 for seven payments, by 5 February 2027 for five, and by 5 March 2027 for four.

Or just reserve with $499 for now

Not ready to pay yet? Ask me anything first.

Request your spot

Tell me you're coming.

This trip is capped at 20 travellers and I keep it that way on purpose. Send this over and I'll come back to you personally — usually within a day — with your payment link and everything you need to know.

No payment is taken here. Nothing is committed until you've heard from me and you're sure.

  1. You send this form — takes a minute.
  2. I reply personally with your payment link, the full itinerary and answers to anything you asked.
  3. Your $499 deposit books your spot straight away. Your monthly payments run from that day and stop when you are paid off.

I read every one of these myself. If you'd rather just talk, email brownnasya@gmail.com or message +1 (510) 566-6516.

Cancellation policy

Life happens. Here's how it works.

Group travel is booked in advance — hotels, guides, helicopters and permits are all reserved and paid for on your behalf long before departure. That's why refunds tighten as the trip gets closer.

Any time before 5 Jul 2027
More than 60 days outDeposit kept — everything else refunded

Every payment beyond your $499 deposit comes back to you in full. The deposit itself isn't returned, but it isn't lost either: transfer your spot to someone else at no charge, or roll the full $499 into a future trip with me within 12 months.

From 5 Jul 2027 onward
Fewer than 60 days outNon-refundable

All payments are final from this date. At 60 days out I pay our local operator in full for your accommodation, guides, transport, helicopter and every activity on the itinerary — that money is spent and can't be recovered, whether you travel or not. You can still transfer your spot to another traveler up to 14 days before departure; just send me their details. This is exactly the gap travel insurance exists to cover.

If the trip doesn't runFully refunded, deposit included

This trip needs a minimum of 12 travelers to go ahead, and I confirm by 5 June 2027. If we don't reach 12, or I have to cancel for any reason on my end, you get 100% of everything you've paid back — deposit and all. Flights and insurance you booked separately are yours to recover, which is precisely what travel insurance is for. Please don't book flights until I've confirmed the trip is running.

Refunds are issued to your original payment method within 14 business days, less non-recoverable card processing fees (roughly 3%), which my payment provider keeps whether or not a payment is returned. Transferring your spot to another traveler is free. Cancellations must be sent in writing to brownnasya@gmail.com — the date I receive your email is the date that applies.

Travel insurance is required. Buy it within two weeks of your deposit.

Insurance is not included in your $3,299 and I don't sell it. You buy it yourself, directly from an insurer, and send me proof of coverage by 5 July 2027. This is a condition of joining the trip, not a suggestion — travelers without proof of cover can't come, and cancelling at that stage falls under the non-refundable tier above.

Buy it within 14 days of paying your deposit. This is the part people get wrong. Policies only cover cancellation for reasons that arise after you buy, and the strongest upgrade — Cancel For Any Reason — is usually only sold within a short window after your first trip payment. Wait three months and that option disappears for good.

Your policy must include:

  • Trip cancellation and interruption — this is what refunds you when my policy above can't
  • Emergency medical and evacuation — essential; we hike an active volcano and fly in a helicopter
  • Adventure activity coverage — confirm ATV, rafting, surfing and hiking aren't excluded, because many standard policies exclude them by default
  • Baggage loss and delay, plus missed connections

Strongly recommended: add Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR). Standard insurance only pays out for listed reasons — illness, injury, a death in the family. CFAR covers you when you simply change your mind, which is the situation my refund tiers can't help with. It typically costs 40–50% more, reimburses 50–75% rather than the full amount, must be bought soon after your deposit, and requires you to cancel at least 48 hours before departure. Availability varies by country and by US state, so check before you count on it.

World Nomads, SafetyWing, Travel Insured International and Allianz are all commonly used for trips like this. Compare them and pick what fits your situation — I'm not able to recommend a specific policy for you.

Know before you go

Flights and fitness.

Airports

  • Recommended arrival Ngurah Rai International (DPS)

Denpasar, Bali. Arrive any time on 3 September — your private transfer meets you whenever you land, and it's included.

  • Recommended departure Ngurah Rai International (DPS)

Depart any time on 11 September. Your transfer back to the airport is timed to your flight and also included.

  • Flights are not included

You book your own flights to and from Bali. Don't book them until I've confirmed the trip is running — that happens once we reach the 12-traveler minimum, by 5 June 2027 at the latest. I'll email you the moment it's confirmed.

Activity level

  • 1Relax and unwind — spa days, markets, minimal movement
  • 2Low-key movement — gentle walks, boat days, easy pace
  • 3Moderate — this trip. A two-hour uphill volcano hike, rafting, ATV, plus plenty of rest days.
  • 4High energy — long hikes, biking, consistently active days
  • 5Extreme — technical climbs, dives, prior experience required

Only one day is genuinely demanding: the 2 AM start and two-hour climb up Batur. Every activity is optional, and skipping one doesn't cost you the day — there's always something else going on.

Know before you go

Passports, visas and vaccinations.

Start these the day you book, not the month you fly. Passport renewals can take months, and a passport that’s a few weeks short of the requirement will get you turned away at check-in — before you ever reach Bali. I’ll remind you as the deadlines come up, but these are yours to sort out.

Documents

  • Passport Six months’ validity, minimum

Indonesia requires at least six months of validity from your arrival date, at least two blank pages, and a book that isn’t torn or water-damaged. Airlines enforce this at check-in. Check the expiry date on yours today — if it expires before March 2028, renew it now rather than later.

    US passport renewal
  • Visa Visa on Arrival or e-VOA

Most nationalities, including US and UK passport holders, get a 30-day Visa on Arrival. You can buy it at the airport or apply online in advance as an e-VOA. Apply only through Indonesia’s official immigration site — there are convincing copycat sites that charge far more. The real one ends in .go.id.

    Apply for your e-VOA
  • Bali tourist levy Paid separately from your visa

Bali charges every foreign visitor a provincial tourism levy on top of the visa. Pay it online through the official Love Bali portal before you fly and keep the QR receipt — it can be checked at the airport and occasionally at temples. Only lovebali.baliprov.go.id is official; lookalikes charge double.

    Pay the Bali tourist levy
  • Arrival declaration Complete it before you fly

Indonesia now uses a single digital arrival form covering immigration, customs and health. It has to be completed within 72 hours of landing. Do it before you leave home and screenshot the barcode. It’s free — if a site asks you to pay for it, it isn’t the real one.

    Submit your arrival card
  • Onward ticket Have it ready at the counter

Immigration can ask to see proof of a return or onward flight. Keep your outbound booking on your phone.

Health

  • Nothing is required to enter But several things are recommended

Indonesia doesn’t require any vaccinations for entry from the US or UK. The exception is a yellow fever certificate, and only if you’re arriving from a country where yellow fever is a risk. That’s different from what’s recommended for your health while you’re there.

  • What the CDC recommends Hepatitis A, hepatitis B and typhoid

For most travelers to Indonesia the CDC recommends hepatitis A, hepatitis B and typhoid, plus keeping routine vaccines current. Depending on your plans, a doctor may also raise rabies or Japanese encephalitis. Malaria is not a risk in Bali itself.

    CDC health info for Indonesia
  • Book the appointment early Four to six weeks before departure

Some vaccines need more than one dose, and some take weeks to take effect. See your own physician or a travel medicine clinic four to six weeks out — earlier if you’re starting a series from scratch.

Find a travel clinic near you
  • This isn’t medical advice Your doctor decides, not me

I can tell you what the trip involves — a volcano at altitude, river water, street food, mosquitoes — and you and your doctor decide what you need. Bring the itinerary to the appointment.

Entry rules change, sometimes at short notice. Everything here reflects the requirements as they stand now; I’ll confirm the current version with you again about three months before departure, and the official Indonesian immigration and CDC sites are always the final word. US travelers can also check the State Department’s country page.

Before you book

Questions people ask.

Booking & the group

Yes. Everyone is welcome — come solo, with a partner, or with friends. Shared rooms are matched by gender, and private rooms are available if you'd rather not share at all — message me and I'll price it for you.
Yes — most people do, and it's the easiest way to travel with a group like this. Rooms are shared by default and I'll match you with a roommate of the same gender. If you'd rather have your own room, a limited number are available — message me before you book and I’ll quote you the difference.
Between 12 and 20 travelers, plus me and a local guide. Big enough that there's always someone to do something with, small enough that we still fit around one dinner table. The trip needs 12 people to run and is capped at 20 — I confirm by 5 June 2027 at the latest, and I'd hold off booking flights until you hear from me. If we don't reach 12, everyone is refunded in full, deposit included.
Either pay $3,299 in full at booking, or reserve with a $499 deposit and pay the rest monthly. Three rhythms are available and every one adds up to exactly $3,299: 4 × $700, 5 × $560, or 7 × $400. Choose yours at checkout. No interest and no fees — the plan costs exactly the same as paying upfront. Your schedule starts from the day you pay your deposit rather than a fixed calendar date, so the earlier you book the more relaxed it is. Your card is charged automatically each month and stops on its own once you are paid off. The only deadline is that the balance clears by 5 July 2027, sixty days before departure.
The full policy is above. In short: cancel any time before 5 July 2027 and everything beyond your $499 deposit is refunded — the deposit stays with me but is transferable to another person or a future trip. From 1 March onward, payments are final, because that's when I pay our operator in full. You can still hand your spot to another traveler up to 14 days before departure. This is exactly why insurance is required.

Flights, visas & insurance

No. Flights to and from Bali are not included and you book them yourself, since everyone is coming from somewhere different. Fly into Ngurah Rai International (DPS) on 3 September and out on 11 September. Airport transfers on both ends are included, whatever time you land.
Not included — and required. You purchase your own policy directly from an insurer and send me proof of coverage by 5 July 2027. No proof, no trip. Buy it within 14 days of paying your deposit: policies only cover cancellations caused by something that happens after you buy, and Cancel For Any Reason coverage is usually only available in a short window right after your first payment. Check that adventure activities — hiking, rafting, ATV, surfing — aren't excluded, because many standard plans exclude them.
Most nationalities can get a visa on arrival in Bali or apply online in advance, but requirements depend on your passport and change periodically — check your own government's current guidance well before you fly. Visas are not included in the trip price.
Indonesia requires your passport to be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date, with blank pages for stamps. Check yours now — renewals can take months, and this is the single most common reason people get turned away at check-in.
There are no mandatory vaccinations for most travelers entering Indonesia, but recommendations vary by where you're coming from and your own health history. Check with your doctor or a travel clinic several weeks before departure, and look at your country's official travel health guidance for Indonesia.
Beyond the trip price, budget roughly $1,200–1,800 for flights and $500–700 for meals, optional activities, and tips. Flights vary a lot by where you're departing from and how early you book. The second figure covers the meals outside the two included dinners, anything optional you add on the free days, and gratuities for your guide and drivers — Bali is inexpensive day to day, so that range is comfortable rather than tight.

On the ground

The Batur sunrise hike is the hardest thing on the schedule — roughly two hours uphill on uneven volcanic terrain, in the dark, at a slow group pace. If you can walk for two hours without stopping, you'll be fine. Everything else is low-intensity, and any activity can be skipped without losing the day.
Yes — two full free days are built in on purpose, plus free afternoons and evenings throughout. Bali rewards wandering, and nobody enjoys nine days of back-to-back scheduling. On free days I'll help you set up anything optional you want to do.
In most cases, yes. Bali is unusually good for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free eating. Tell me about any allergies or restrictions when you book so I can brief the restaurants and the cooking class in advance, and remind your guide when you arrive. Severe allergies — please flag those to me directly before you pay a deposit so we can be certain it's manageable.
Early September falls in the back half of Bali’s dry season — reliably sunny, warm and less humid than the spring months, generally around 30 °C during the day. Rain is uncommon at this time of year, though a brief shower is always possible. The summit of Batur at 4 AM is the exception: it gets genuinely cold up there, so bring a layer.
Light clothing, a warm layer and closed walking shoes for the volcano, swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, a sarong for temple visits, and mosquito repellent. Modest dress covering shoulders and knees is required at temples. I'll send a full packing list and a group chat invite once you're booked.
The currency is the Indonesian rupiah. ATMs are everywhere and cards are widely accepted in Seminyak, less so in villages, so carry some cash. Tips and gratuities aren't included in the trip price — budget something for your guide and drivers. For data, an eSIM bought before you fly is the easiest option and costs very little.
Absolutely, and plenty of people do. Extra nights before and after the trip can be arranged at the group hotels — tell me what you have in mind and I’ll come back with a price. If you want to extend further — Nusa Penida, the Gilis, Lombok — tell me when you book and I'll point you in the right direction.
The trip is hosted by me and operated on the ground by Balifornia Experts (PT Made Leo Bali), a licensed Bali-based tour operator. They handle transport, guides, accommodation and activity logistics. I'm with you the whole way as your host.
Please do. Email brownnasya@gmail.com or message +1 (510) 566-6516 with anything at all — the itinerary, roommate matching, whether it's right for you. I'd much rather answer twenty questions than have you book something that isn't a fit.
